Harpenden SC Meet Report – CMKSC Autumn Meet

We go to CMK because it’s a good meet, but also because they run a full programme of the longer events, so our swimmers can have a go at the 400m, 800m and 1500m when fighting fit!

True to the plan of the meet, we had 3 swimmers embarking on their first ever competitive 1500’s at this event, some repeat 800-ers and even two new competitive 800’s to finish it all off! Records tumbled all over the place with these swims and more importantly, no one miscounted…! Well done to Toby M, Lewis D and Aggie B in their 1500s, and Aggie B, Larissa D, Ella M and Hannah B in their 800s!

The biggest PBs (notwithstanding the distance events) went to Ethan C with a 28s 200m freestyle PB, followed by James A with a 16s 100m breaststroke PB and Matthew J with a 13s 200m freestyle PB. Percentage wise James was the big winner on his 100m breaststroke on 16.0%, followed by Ethan on his freestyle with 12.3% and Nina S on 100m freestyle with 8.5%!

There were 10 records set, well done to: Aggie B (Club 1500m freestyle, 18 & Over 1500m & 50m freestyle), Lewis D (Club 800m freestyle, 14 year old 800m freestyle), Ella M (17 year old 100m breaststroke) and Toby M (11 year old 100m freestyle, 800m freestyle, 1500m freestyle and 50m butterfly)! Congratulations!

The meet was quieter than usual, but I don’t think that this is a reason to worry. Meets often have a quiet year – Legacy Meet did last year and sold out early this year! So don’t worry, this distance stalwart is here to stay.
