Herts Major League Round 1 Report
This year, due to Covid Herts league is being swum as a series of “Virtual Galas”. This means that each club times their own swimmers and sends off the results to the league which then works out the positions of each club.
Each team is allowed 20 swimmers on their list, and of those up to 10 are allowed to swim. Each swimmer is only allowed to swim one individual event. Harpenden has entered 4 teams. Each one is headed up by one of our open age group male swimmers; James Atwell, Freddie Arbuthnott, Lewis Dormer and Ruel Shepperd.
James and Freddie’s teams are entered in the 100m competition where the events are
- U16/U14 100 bk,
- U16/U14 100 br,
- 16& Over 100fly,
- U12 100 free
- Open 100IM
for each gender
There is also a free relay and a medley relay which has to have one swimmer from each age group, but also making sure there are 2 girls and 2 boys.
Lewis and Ruel’s teams are entered in the 50m competition where the events are
- U16/U14 50 bk,
- U16/U14 50 br,
- 16& Over 50fly,
- U12 50 free
for each gender

On top of this you score bonus points if you are more than a certain time ahead of your nearest rival!
The times used were taken from the level X swims in June and from some time trials in training.

Round 2 will be “swum” in training as time trials during July, so when we ask you to swim fast please remember that you may make it into the team. AND it would be lovely to move further up those tables!
